A Made to Measure Mattress all have one common feature, they are built using a very supportive bonnell spring system, which includes additional side support springs to ensure total use of the sleeping surface. This also becomes very important in a caravan, motorhome or boat where we may sit on the edge of the bed more than we would at home.

This supportive spring unit is then top dressed with responsive surface materials, either urethane foam or in the case of top of the range mattresses, latex rubber is sometimes used.

Our mattresses do not contain any felt pads or cotton wadding as these products inhibit the ventilation of the mattress, promote increased dustmite activity and do nothing for the comfort of the user. Felt also increases the weight of the mattress.

It is important to note that it is more expensive to manufacture a soft surface mattress than a firm one, because the softer materials have to be of much higher quality in order to remember to return to their original form throughout the life of the mattress (e.g. no roll together).

We also provide the option of only padding the mattress on one side which again lowers the overall height of the mattress. Our lower profile mattresses have been specifically designed to suit camper trailers, over the cab beds, beds that push up into the roof of the vehicle (being lighter in weight this will not affect the ability of gas struts) and beds where a normal mattress would be above the height of the window. Our lowest overall height of a mattress we can provide is 150mm or 6".

Foam Mattresses

There are, unfortunately, some applications where an innerspring mattress just won't work; usually when there is a very limited height available. While the foam mattress most people are used to are either too firm to really get comfortable, or so soft you "bottom out" in no time, we are able to supply a combination foam mattress which combines support and comfort.
